Finish in sight
Gitana Eighty is now a hundred miles short of the finish line at Salvador de Bahia and should arrive there early evening (Paris time) as expected. The pressure is still significant on board, as Loïck Peyron and Jean-Baptiste Le Vaillant are currently sailing in view of Yann Elies and Sébastien Audigane on Generali. “We're going to have to keep racing right to the end,” explained the skipper in the midday radio chat. “And with the wind abeam, the route to the finish is anything but a straight line!” After 18 days' racing, the two boats were less than 2 miles apart when the positions were recorded at midday.
