The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild on her way to Motril on the south coast of Spain
This lunchtime, Charles Caudrelier alerted his shore crew that the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild had dismasted whilst beating to windward towards the Strait of Gibraltar during her return delivery trip from the Finistère Atlantique. In light of this incident, the members of Gitana Team, led by Cyril Dardashti, quickly actioned all the necessary operations to find a port and secure the five-arrow giant. At the same time, Charles Caudrelier and his five-man crew aboard the boat put every effort into making the remaining half of the mast safe and salvaging as much of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild’s sail wardrobe as possible. This evening, they’ve set a course for Motril on the south coast of Spain, which will accommodate them in a few hours’ time. They will be joined by the technical team, which is already on its way there.
