Gitana 13 expected into San Francisco this afternoon (UT)
At the 0930 position report, Gitana 13 still had 105 miles to go to make San Francisco Bay, the final destination of its adventure in the Route de l'Or. Now positioned on a direct course towards the finish, Lionel Lemonchois and his nine crew are set to cross the finish line situated on the outskirts of the island of Alcatraz in the next few hours. According to the latest estimates from their meteorologist, Sylvain Mondon, the arrival may well take place between 1200 and 1500 hours (UT), which would correspond with the very end of the night in San Francisco given the time difference.

Once the line is crossed, the maxi-catamaran equipped by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild will make towards the cove of Angel Island, situated just off the entrance to the Bay, where it will be welcomed to the mooring by the Corinthian Yacht Club.
