With a father who was first a fisherman and then later delivered yachts, Yann’s childhood was steeped in stories of travel and the sea. After spending one year at the STAPS physical education university, the native of Normandy became a sailing instructor at Grandcamp, whilst continuing to sail Lasers in the Seine Bay with his local sailing club at Montdeville. After training with the yacht architect Marc Lombard and at the Incidences sail loft in La Rochelle, Yann helped deliver Orange II to Marseilles and accompanied Yves Le Blévec on board to prepare the maxi-catamaran for its record crossing of the Mediterranean before making the return journey to Brittany. An Atlantic crossing on a cruise catamaran completed his training before he sailed on Gitana X last season.
