Léopold Lucet
![]() © Gitana S.A. Born on 5 March 1982 in Paris A recent sports management graduate, Léopold Lucet was originally an ice hockey enthusiast. But following a back injury, he was forced to give up his beloved sport at a time when he had reached an excellent level nationally. He decided to take his sailing instructor exams and signed up for a sports management course at Caen University. He then met Jean-Yves Le Govic and discovered La Trinité/Mer and multihull racing, before joining the Gitana Team in 2004 as part of the shore crew in charge of hydraulics and hardware on Gitana X. After training courses, Léopold became involved in managing day to day problems on the boat, particularly monitoring matters with suppliers, interacting with architects and engineers and working on determining deck layout. The boat captain, he occupies the most risky position of bowman on board Gitana X, which suits this consummate sportsman down to the ground. |
